Dr. Killgore to Speak at NW NSCA Conference

Dr. Garry Killgore (Founder & President of AQx) will be presenting “Intelligent Training: Just Add Water™ - The Art and Science of Uniquely Connecting Land and Water for Optimal Performance and Rehabilitation," a 90 minute lecture and discussion to the Northwest National Strength and Conditioning Association (NW NSCA) on September 20th, 2009 at 8am in Spokane, Washington.

Based on Dr. Garry Killgore’s extensive scientific and experiential research, the goal of this lecture/discussion is to enhance the understanding and appreciation of aquatic training and rehabilitation from a scientific and practical perspective, specifically for athletes. The attendees will learn to analyze proper form and technique of deep and shallow water running. Several related appropriate exercises for speed, power, and neuromuscular coordination incorporating plyometrics and medicine ball drills will be discussed that uniquely combine land and water training to optimize performance and rehabilitation opportunities and decrease the likelihood of incurring injuries. In conjunction, relevant scientific principles as they apply in an aquatic environment will be discussed, e.g. buoyancy, drag, density, depth of water, anthropometric differences, shoes vs. barefoot, metabolic, physiological, and psychological effects, etc.
